Our North Toronto Physiotherapists are all university educated health professionals and work closely with you one-on-one to treat, manage and prevent many physical problems caused by illness, disease, sport-and work-related injury, aging and long periods of inactivity.
At Lawrence Park Health, our Physiotherapists specialize in hands-on manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation. Yes, we do have electrical modalities at the clinic as well, but we prefer to work with our hands and get down to the root cause of your problem! At Lawrence Park Health Clinic in Toronto, we work in many areas including: orthopaedics, neurology, sports and overuse injuries, paediatrics, women’s health and pelvic floor rehab, seniors’ health, cardiac conditions and post-surgical rehabilitation.
At Lawrence Park Health Clinic, you can always expect one-on-one treatment, 100% of the time. We have closed treatment rooms for your privacy, as well as a large open studio space with plenty of room for exercise rehabilitation. During your first visit, your Physiotherapist will complete a thorough assessment including a discussion of relevant health history, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, objective examination of strength, joint ranges of motion, reflexes, session and cardiorespiratory status. If applicable, your Physiotherapist will also examine relevant X-ray or MRI results, laboratory tests, medical records and surgical notes. Based on this assessment, your Physiotherapist identify a comprehensive problem list.
These concerns will be different for everyone, but could include:
Pain
Swelling
Frozen Shoulder
Stiffness
Weakness
Restricted range of motion
Poor stability or balance
Difficulty walking or moving
Difficulty participating fully in a sport
Difficulty performing daily activities & chores
Upcoming surgery requiring pre-op strengthening
From this individualized list, the Physiotherapist will work with you to identify realistic and achievable goals. For example:
Short-term goals: decreasing pain and swelling; increasing movement
Medium-term goals: increase strength and balance
Long-term goals: return to playing a sport; return to work; restore or maintain independence at home; better post-surgical outcomes
Your Lawrence Park Physiotherapist will then review their clinical findings with you, answer any questions you may have, and work in partnership with you to develop individualized goals and treatment programs tailored to your unique needs. Our pracitioners pride themselves on taking the time to work one-on-one with patients to formulate a treatment plan that focuses on active achievement of goals.
